"Etileno" is the first graphic novel by Carmen B. Mikelarena. This work represents a journey towards digital detoxification, intertwining humour, melancholy and weariness personified by its protagonist, Catalina. Cata is an aspiring painter addicted to social networks, who follows a routine full of procrastination. As a good procrastinator, she exhibits low levels of self-confidence, zero energy and depression. One day, she discovers a pamphlet mentioning the support group ama (mobile addicts anonymous), which she decides to join in a moment of depression. Integrated into the group, Catalina gradually begins a process of virtual evanescence as she watches her long-lasting friendship with Flor falter.\n\nThe title "Etileno" refers to the influence we have as a society and how our companies can affect our attitude and well-being. It addresses issues such as digital hygiene, the erosion of long-lasting relationships, human interaction and the craving for recognition.\n\nThis comic has been funded by the "Ayudas Injuve" for creation 2023.
