Carmen B. Mikelarena is an artist from Madrid born in 1998. She has a degree in Fine Arts from the UCM, as well as having studied in Plymouth, Berlin and Granada. Her first comic "Corre corre que te pillo" was self-published, followed by Zurdópolis, published in Catalan by Forn de Calc. She has also collaborated in other publishing projects such as Veinte20mag and BLEDO 2. In 2019, she received the grant Cañas y tapas para la creatividad and in 2020, a mention from Cornellà Cómics. During 2021, she was awarded El premio Laboral Kutxa and in 2022, the COMIC ART EUROPE grant, in addition to the Alonso Cano Comic Prize with "Abuelo muela" and the acquisition of work in the Visual Arts category with "Tigre sudando bálsamo de tigre". In 2024, she will present her graphic novel "ETILENO" under the support of Injuve's creation grants. Carmen B.Mikelarena's work questions the cute, folklore, and the use of new technologies. Some of her influences are Marjane Satrapi, Tracey Emin and David Hockney. Currently, Carmen lives in Madrid.
